Back in1969 they said if you are thinking of a 3 or 4 year college course you will never fulfil any career as Armageddon will be here before then. Those that graduated in the 1970's are now at or near retirement and the system is still going strong.
I went to Uni and never regretted it. The thought of a life as a pioneer and window cleaner makes me shudder.

Announcement this evening simply said to update Life Forever book and ensure Publishers page shows July 2023 date. No mention of reprints or new printed version. After the meeting nobody mentioned it that heard.

my understanding was that this was the magazine regularly published for insiders only, unlike the watchtower and the awake!
looking online, it seems that the wt ceased publication of this in 2016. is it due to a name change (it seems to have changed its name several times over the years) or has it been succeeded by a new publication?
or has it ceased to be?.
- I remember it as Bulletin for a while. Of course bulletin is verboten because it is a Catholic word ( Papal bull)

Those of us of a certain age will remember "The Informant" This changed to Kingdom Ministry in about 1957. From then it changed to Our kingdom Service and back again to Our Kingdom Ministry until 2016 I think.
Journeyman gave a good outline above. It really is dumbed down. Counsel is from a small 24 page booklet, "Apply yourself to reading and teaching". Gone are the days of Qualified to be Ministers etc.

My old Android device is still showing the thumbnail for the old video but will not play it. It says to import the new file. It will be interesting to see if we get the announcement this week. Surprisingly this announcement was not included on the August Announcements and Reminders.

i always found it amazing that so many jws got blind drunk at parties and got away with it!
i suppose alcohol was the only fun thing we were allowed to partake in....
Not former, I think in England, you can legally drink at age 16.
The legal age for buying and/or consuming alcohol in the UK is 18. Obviously you can drink in private or at a party at any age if you can get an adult to buy it for you.

ON Friday morning, October 1, 1971, the legal corporation known as Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania held its annual corporation meeting, this time in the Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s witnesses at Buckingham, Pennsylvania. All seven members of the Board of Directors of said Society attended and had a part in the program presented. The membership of this Society is limited to five hundred at the most, there being at present four hundred and fifty such members throughout the earth. Many of these members attended this annual corporation meeting in person, still more by means of proxy. All together, 2,076 attended this corporation meeting, doubtless all of them being interested Christian witnesses of Jehovah.
At this meeting a question came up and was discussed from the platform. It was as to what the relationship is between the Board of Directors of the Society as a legal corporation and the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Christian witnesses. Are they the same, identical, or are they different? Such questions were due to the fact that it has been published in print that the Governing Body of Jehovah’s witnesses at headquarters is associated with the Board of Directors of the said Society. How did this come about, and does this make the Board of Directors the same as the Governing Body of Jehovah’s witnesses all the earth around?"
The entire article is worth reading. It took until 2000 for Milton Henschel to resign his position as President and hand over to a non-anointed one. They have spent the last 23 years clawing back all control.
